Spider Dip (Vegan Halloween Appetizer)
So you’ve probably seen this dip recipe all over Pinterest & the Internet. It’s so easy & cute for Halloween. The best thing is that it’s super easy to veganize and tweak- using ingredients that you like! Here’s what I did with mine:
Ingredients:
-1 can refried beans (black or pinto)
-2 Tbs diced green chiles (I used the small can)
-taco seasoning (a couple teaspoons- to taste)
-sour cream (vegan Tofutti style is good.)
– shredded cheese (you can use Daiya or omit the cheese all together)
– 3 avocados mashed- or a small package of premade guacamole
– finely diced onion (a few Tbs)
-diced fresh tomato (a few Tbs)
-shredded lettuce (I just bought the bag)
– a small can of sliced black olives
-salsa (I used premade in a jar)
Directions:
– get a large dish out
– in a bowl, mix together the beans, chiles, and taco seasoning then spread out on the dish.
-sprinkle the lettuce around the outside of the beans, toward the edge of your dish.
-then layer the rest of the ingredients (except for the olives & sour cream) on top of beans (onion, tomato, cheese, salsa, then guacamole)
-use the black olives now as decoration around where your sour cream web will be.
-put your sour cream into a plastic ziplock bag and cut a bit off the corner so you can squeeze the sour cream out – this way you can “write” with it and decorate a web design on top. Squeeze extra around the lettuce.
-You can even make a spider out of the olives – one for the body & 4 pieces of olive on each side for legs- but I just stuck a fake one on top.
-serve tortillas chips & fresh cut veggies with this spooky dip!
